Tampa Bay Vipers vs LA Wildcats
This game has the makings of being the best game of the week with the Vipers riding a 1 game win streak and Taylor Cornelius under center. Cornelius did it all in week 4 leading the Vipers to their first win on the backs of a passing and rushing touchdown.
Likewise on the other side of the ball The Wildcats Josh Johnson has simply been on fire throwing for 330 yards and two touchdowns in week 4. The Vipers have been a great matchup for QBs thus far and Johnson is my favorite QB play of the weekend.
Taylor Cornelius found the Viper’s receiver Dan Williams early and often in week 4 and look for that to continue. Williams had 11 targets for 72 yards in the game. Jalen Tolliver also saw 5 targets
The Wildcats #1 receiver Nelson Spruce will be out so get to know Tre McBride who took 12 for 125 and a score last week. McBride is fully in play in Week 5 and a great stacking option with Johnson. The same can be said for Jordan Smallwood who saw 7 targets for 75 yards. I like both of these pass catchers in this game.
Tampa Bay’s running back DeVeon Smith was tremendous value in week 4 rushing 24 times for 122 yards. He also saw 3 targets. He comes into this week with a questionable tag so keep an eye, but if he plays he could once again have a strong game against LA. If he is out however I would lock in Jacques Patrick who also had an awesome showing in Week 4 with 108 yards and a score. Both Vipers backs are in play for sure, but I like Smith most – if he plays.
With Josh Johnson throwing as he is the Wildcats haven’t had to lean on the running game. But I don’t want to forget mentioning Martez Carter who balled out in week 4 with TWO touchdowns on the ground and another TD through the air. All of the Wildcats backs are questionable going into this game so keep attention to the news.
My DFS Takeaways
This game could be the one to game stack in. I like plays on both sides of the ball here so instead of going by position let me list off my favorites, in order:
Josh Johnson $10,500 – Tre McBride $9,700 stack
Josh Johnson – Jordan Smallwood $6,200 stack
Taylor Cornelius $8,500
De’Veon Smith (if he plays) $7,900
Jacques Patrick (especially if Smith sits) $7,000
Martez Carter (if he plays) $4,600
Good luck in your contests!
