DraftKings has put together a Monday Night Special slate for this double header tonight for Monday Night Football. The Browns vs the Raiders are first at 5PM EST and then the Vikings and Bears will follow in the traditional MNF time of 8:15 Kickoff. However I will be talking about the individual games and highlighting my Showdown picks for each…

In this article I will focus on the Browns and Raiders at 5PM. First, the Cleveland Browns are the most Covid-19 Maligned team of the season, thus far. 19 Browns will be held off for Covid Reserve which will leave the Browns in quite a pickle offensively but will create some value for you to take advantage of in this 2 game slate. Here are the Browns expected to miss due to Covid-19, with the most pertinent Draft Kings eligible players listed first:

Offense Skill Positions:

Baker Mayfield

Kareem Hunt

Jarvis Landry

Austin Hooper

Travis Ross (TE)

JoJo Natson (WR)

Case Keenum

Offensive Line:

Jedrick Wills (OT)

Drew Forbes (G)

Defense:

Jadeveon Clowney (DE)

Tak McKinley (DE)

Ifeadi Odenigbo (DE)

Malik McDowell (DT)

Mack Wilson (LB)

Jacob Phillips (LB)

Tony Fields II (LB)

John Johnson (S)

Grant Delpit (S)

Ronnie Harrison Jr (S)

AJ Green (CB)

Troy Hill (CB)

Coaching:

Kevin Stafanski (HC)

Ryan Cordell (RB Coach)

TC McCartney (Offensive AC)

So who will the Browns have available? Let’s get into the slate:

NICK CHUBB: Near 40% ownership in this slate isn’t nearly enough and neither is a $7,900 price tag. Chubb lines up as Cleveland’s #1 offensive weapon tonight and barring injury set back, I would expect Chubb to see serious volume tonight against a Raiders team ranked 26th against running backs and allowing 125+ yards on the ground. He also makes a stellar play at MVP on FanDuel showdowns, where I expect him to be very popular. In games that Hunt Missed this season where Chubb was healthy he averaged 21 attempts per game and recently even with Hunt healthy, Chubb has seen 4 targets in back to back games.

NICK MULLINS: Remember Nick Mullins? The long time San Fran backup who studied that playbook so much he had practically knew the playbook by memory? He had a magical 4 game run in 2019 filling in for Jimmy G but man did that bloom come off the rose in 2020 when it was his team to run. Well, Mullins steps in tonight manning the helm for Baker Mayfield and at only $4,900 and 6% ownership I think you have to take a look here. Additionally at 4% ownership at Captain in DK showdowns, he is an extremely strong pivot candidate to Derek Carr who is UBER chalky. Mullins will have a couple Browns starters to throw too, but it is the unknown that intrigues me most here.

DAVID NJOKU – $5,600 Flex 18% ownership. This is simply a Next Man Up scenario for Njoku, with Austin Hooper, Jarvis Landry and Kareem Hunt not playing that is a lot of normal targets up for grabs. Njoku should be a featured target for Mullens with the Raiders near last in the league against Tight Ends. Now you do need to keep an eye on Harrison Bryant who would be the #2 tight end tonight and has regularly been involved in this offense. Bryant is listed as questionable with an Ankle Sprain. If he plays, I will be pretty close to equal share Njoku + Bryant across my lineups – if he doesn’t play though then I think Njoku needs to be locked and loaded.

Donavan Peoples-Jones $7,600 Flex 30% ownership. If there is a DK Captain I am choosing from the Browns not named Chubb or Mullens it’s DPJ. The talented rookie had high marks through training camp and has had flashes of greatness this season already with 4 games over 75 yards. He also has 3 touchdowns. But again – no Jarvis, No Hunt, No Hooper, a lot of targets to go around and it is DPJ’s ability for a big play down the field that makes me interested in him at Captain where he is 6% owned.

Rashard Higgins $1,800 Flex 24% ownership. Hollywood Higgins could ride again tonight. Higgins has oft been a healthy scratch this season but the Browns can’t afford to do that tonight. Higgins is usually a deep threat but I have to wonder if they will have him manning the slot more often than not with Jarvis off the field. In the games he has played this season (9) he has averaged 4.2 targets and he does have a touchdown catch to his name too.

Chase McLaughlin $3,800 Flex 11% ownership. It is shocking given that the state of affairs for the Browns offense hasn’t driven their kicker ownership through the roof but it hasn’t. I think using the kicker McLaughlin in Browns Stacks, in Raiders Stacks is a must. In 7 games this season, including the last one, McLaughlin has had 2 or more FG attempts. I think this may be a ceiling game for McLaughlin given the circumstances and I don’t even mind at least one lineup with him at Captain.

Browns Dart Throws: D’Ernest Johnson ($6,200 RB), Demetric Felton ($800 RB), Lawrence Cager ($200 WR), Anthony Schwartz ($200 WR – questionable), Ja’Marcus Bradley ($200 WR), The Browns DST ($3,600).

THE RAIDERS

Derek Carr – The second most popular Raider at Captain, Carr is priced at $16,800 and while I understand the logic here – he is facing a severely undermanned Browns defense, I also have to wonder if given the circumstance the Raiders don’t elect to lean on the run. Over the last two games Carr is averaging just under a 74% completion rate, his 3rd highest of the season and he has also thrown 35 passes or more in every game but 2 this season – including in the last two games. The problem is that for his 17 touchdowns on the year, he has thrown 10 picks. Additionally over the last 4 games he has only thrown 3 scores. So while I don’t hate using Carr in the flex, I too will likely steer a different direction for a Raiders Captain.

JOSH JACOBS $14,700 at Captain 10% ownership. While Jacobs will be a popular play at Flex on DK, I like him at Captain tonight. Also on FanDuel at MVP. Jacobs hasn’t seen the volume of touches that you’ think over the back half of the season seeing double digit touches only 4 times since Week 6, but he has more than made up for that in the passing game averaging 6 targets over his last 5 games. The thing is with most of the starting D Line for the Browns out as well as 2 starting Linebackers, I have to wonder if we are going to see a Jacobs career game tonight, especially with Kenyan Drake on IR – and I want to have my share of Jacobs in my lineups.

HUNTER RENFROW: Especially with Darren Waller out, Renfrow has been the target machine for the Raiders seeing a whopping 25 in the last 3 games alone. He is also coming off 3 straight 100+ yard performances and he has a touchdown in that span too. He is the highest owned Raider in the Captain or Flex and I will have a ton of exposure to Renfrow tonight with the Browns’ entire starting secondary sitting due to Covid.

Desean Jackson: 1% owned at Captain, 2% owned in the Flex it doesn’t take much for DJAX to make an impact and with the Browns likely trying to control the clock with Nick Chubb, fast deep strikes from Carr to DJax may be the key here for a Raiders W. Don’t forget that the entire Browns secondary will be non-starters to begin with. I love the opportunity for Jackson and I will have a solid share of him in my lineups. It was just 4 games ago that DJax took 4 catches for 102 yards and a score against the Cowboys… he is $5,800 in the flex.

Daniel Carlson: $4,200 Flex 13% owned, sure on paper the Raiders should have an easier time than normal facing this Browns Team but there is no guarantee they won’t stall in the redzone. Carlson has averaged 3 FGs in 5 of his last 8 games. Stick him in your flex on some Raiders stacks

Raiders Darts: Zay Jones ($5,200), Bryan Edwards ($5,000), Peyton Barber ($2,200), Foster Moreau ($6,400), Jaylen Richard ($400)

GOOD LUCK IN YOUR CONTESTS!
